MEET CHELSEA
Chelsea was born and raised in the Southside of Pittsburgh. Her first love of basketball took her to Longwood University in Virginia where she was a student athlete, and studied radio broadcasting and journalism.
​
After college Chelsea decided to enroll in cosmetology school, as hair had quickly turned into a hobby of hers during her college years.
With 22 years in the industry and 15 years as a salon owner Chelsea's hair knowledge knows no bounds.
"I try to take classes quarterly. I like to stay well versed on new trends as you never know who will sit in your chair and what they will ask for."

Chelsea serves a diverse clientele throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas. She works with all hair textures, and enjoys enhancing her clients natural hair color. Chelsea's main goal is not only to provide naturally curly haircare in its simplest form, but also to teach clients that it doesn't have to be complicated!

"I love to cut, color, and style, but there is no greater feeling than helping a client love their natural hair. The acceptance of naturally curly hair has been a long time coming, and I'm just happy be a part of the movement here in Pittsburgh!
MEET JESSICA
Jessica joined Chelsea Rae Salon after working in the neighboring Shadyside area. She has been in the industry for 5 years.

Jessica is originally from Miami Florida and came to Pittsburgh to attend Carnegie Mellon University for design and architecture.
​
After college Jessica sought out a career that would allow her to help people more directly, and that's when she fell in love with the cosmetology industry.
​
"I love major transformations and working with all textures, as well as vivid colors."
"I want everyone who sits in my chair to feel comfortable and confident and leave loving their hair."

Jessicas specialties include curly cuts,
vivid colors, and balayage highlights, and edgy cuts.

MEET LENJUAN
Lenjuan also known as "Lenny" comes to Chelsea Rae after working 14 years in a Monroeville area salon.
​
Lenny was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and today is a wife and mother of three. She knew at a very young age that she wanted to pursue a career in cosmetology. She has been in the industry since high school, where she attended Forbes road CTC.
​
Lennys specialties include curly cuts, silk presses, two strand twists, braiding, color blocking and loc-retwisting.
​
"I am all about healthy hair, and helping clients understand that natural hair can be styled in many different ways. I also pride myself on keeping up with the latest trends, while still maintaining the health of your hair."

Lenny's a wonderful addition, and brings years of knowledge to the salon.
MEET CARMEN
Carmens appreciation for healthy hair begins first with a passion for healthy people.
Carmen was born in Pittsburgh, finished undergrad in North Carolina and worked at a boarding school in Washington DC where she also completed cosmetology school.

When Carmen returned to Pittsburgh, she worked with Chelsea in a her southside salon. A few years later she decided on a career change and began to work with the community in her church.
Six years later Carmen felt the tug to go back into the beauty industry and joined the Sola Salons in East Liberty.
"I hope to continue to provide clients with exceptional haircare. Sending a client out with a sharp silk press, good loc maintenance, fresh color, or a cute curly cut are a few reasons why I stand behind the chair."

With 15 years under her belt, Carmen brings a wealth of knowledge with her to Chelsea Rae Salon.
MEET LYDIA
Originally from Louisiana, Lydia moved to Pittsburgh in May 2018 and has been making her mark in the beauty industry for the past 6 years.
​
Lydia attended Paul Mitchell’s Bella Capelli and graduated in February 2020. Then began her journey at Chelsea Rae Salon in 2021.
​
Lydia loves working with all hair textures and especially enjoys cutting and styling curly hair. Her passion goes beyond creating beautiful styles—she wants every client to leave the salon feeling confident and empowered in their own hair.

Is your hair thirsty and dry? Our Customizable conditioning treatments will leave your hair feeling like you've never felt it before. Using our state of the art hair steamer your hair is infused with purified water rather than the normal dry heat of a hair dryer.

K-18 Treatment

This patented technology works on a molecular level to repair damaged broken bonds. It repairs the broken bonds and rejuvenates the hair, increases tensile strength and restores elasticity. It also protects the hair from further breakage.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Chelsea Rae Salon kindly asks that you must give 24 hours notice of cancellation.
​
A fee of 100% of your service will apply if that notice is not given. For example, if your appointment is at 1pm on a Tuesday, you must cancel by 1 pm on Monday. This fee must be paid before your next appointment is scheduled. Discounted rates and coupons will not be honored.
​
By giving last minute notice, or no notice at all, you prevent someone else from being able to schedule that time slot.
We understand that delays can happen however, if you are more than 15 minutes late you may be asked to reschedule your appointment. Please keep in mind that arriving late will require us to shorten the length of the treatment with full charges applied.
In the event you miss two consecutive appointments without notification you will be unable to schedule future appointments.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you require deposits for appointments?​
We only require a deposit for fantasy colors and color corrections.
We do however require a card on file for all clients. ​
How long do I have to cancel or reschedule my appointment?
We ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment. You are then able to reschedule at that time.
Do I need to wear anything special for my appointment?
No high collared shirts, turtlenecks or hoodies, as they will be in our way and most likely get wet. No hoop or long earrings, posts are acceptable.
Can I bring a friend to my appointment?
We prefer that you come alone to your appointment. We are a boutique style salon and do not have room for extra guests.
Do you do kids haircuts?
Yes, we do kids haircuts. We require at least one parent/adult to stay for the duration of your child’s haircut.
How should I come with my hair styled for a dry curly cut, and will it be washed?
We prefer for your hair to be out and loose, no tight ponytails or sticky products. Yes, a wash is included with dry cuts.
Do you offer gift cards?
Yes, gift cards can be purchased from our booking site at the top of the page labeled "About".
How can I book an appointment?
You can book an appointment by going to our booking site. From there you can choose a stylist on the drop-down menu, and click on a service. You will then choose a date and time, fill out your contact information, and book the appointment.
What methods of payment do you accept?
We except cash, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Apple Pay, Samsung pay, and gift cards.
